CO: Following you for some time now, I’ve witnessed your aesthetic adapt and form to your current offering. Although consistent, your work seems to always be changing through color, medium, and overall approach. What drove you to utilize this specific artwork for your mirror ?

VS: Part of the fun of moving through this space is constantly challenging myself and my practice to interpret and adapt to different techniques and mediums. A lot of the stories I try to tell through sport have to do with how one can re-frame the world through it’s lens – i’d worked with mirror as an ingredient before, but never at the scale and accessibility as we did for this project.

CO: With countless accomplishments and an evolving artistic presence, the world views you as a successful artist. How do you view yourself when you look into a mirror?

VS: I just see myself that’s curious, a bit restless and ambitious to continue growing and evolving forward.

CO: You’ve been fortunate to mold your own world with special offerings for others to enjoy. From Prints to Apparel to so many other special objects, what excites you about this release?

VS: Throughout the history of my practice I’ve stayed stubborn about scale and accessibility of my fine art offerings: very few pieces at very intimidating prices. I’d been asked for years to create something more approachable, in scale and cost - and excited to have the opportunity to finally bring both to the world.

CO: I’m sure you get approached all the time with projects and ideas from outside parties. What made you confident in your decision to work with Cut Once Studio ?

VS: Josh is one of the most generous and thoughtful people in the game – he’s been a great friend and ally as I’ve navigated it. As I’ve watched him build Cut Once I admired the vision and ingenuity - seeking out opportunities to support and collaborate, so when he reached out to me for this - and told me who else would be part of the program, it was an honor to contribute to the collection.
